MINIBUSES:
Bodrum has an extensive minibus service, centrally located at the Bus Terminal
in the city center. You can hop on a minibus from here to any province in
Bodrum. Most of the minibuses are clean, but none have air conditioning. During
the summer season, minibus services are available to most of the major provinces

The consumption of alcohol is usually much higher in the resort areas-around the world-than in the "big" cities. Simply put-if you are drinking- don't drive ! Also, even if you have not consumed any alcohol, still be very careful when driving in the Bodrum Peninsula. We recommend that you do not exceed 70 km / hr as the roads are not very well lit in the evenings and there are many twists and turns or just one lane on some major roads between environs.
Bodrum and all of its environs offer wining and dining opportunities at all price ranges. You can have a very inexpensive, yet good meal or treat yourself to an elegant and pricier meal. Most cuisines can be found-to include Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Indian etc.
There
are many shopping opportunities in Bodrum so don't be upset if you realize
that you have forgotten something at home. One option is the outdoor markets,
called "Pazar" in Turkish. At these markets you can find anything
from food to T-shirts, dresses, shoes, curtains, towels and pretty much anything
else that you can think of. Prices are very reasonable. Another alternative
is the array of shops along Kale and Cumhuriyet (also called "Barlar
Sokagi-The bars district) Streets in the city center. Most of the shops here
specialize in sportswear, jewellery, swimwear ,shoes & handbags and of
course souvenirs to take back home to friends and the family. Finally, the
Oasis and Milta Bodrum Marina Shopping Malls in Bodrum, along with the spacious
and trendy shopping areas at the D-Marin Marina in Turgutreis and the Port
Bodrum Marina in Yalikavak are available where you will find major international
and domestic name brands.
Taxis: You do not have to tip to taxi drivers. The only time a tip would be appropriate is if you have a luggage and the driver has assisted you with them. Your tip will vary based on the amount of luggage you have, but need not exceed 1 YTL/suitcase.
Restaurants: All restaurant checks include VAT ( sales tax) and most do not include tips (check the menu) as is common in most European cities. When the tip is not included 10 % tip is considered the norm. If you feel you've received extra service, feel free to tip more.
Hotels: Recommended tip for a bellhop is 1 YTL/suitcase and 2 YTL/night for the housekeeping staff.
Döviz
( Foreign Exchange) Bureaus:
You can exchange foreign currency at the Döviz ( Foreign Exchange) Bureaus, which are located throughout Bodrum. They are very easy to find as their storefront has the word "döviz" boldly displayed.
Döviz Bureaus offer better exchange rates than the banks, however less than the Post office of Bodrum. In order to find out what the exchange rate is, look under the heading for SATIS (selling), which are displayed either inside the bureau or storefront. There is a comission for exchanging traveler's checks and may vary from one bureau to another as does the rate itself.
All banks are open on weekdays from 9:00 am. to 05:00 pm. with some open during the lunch hour. You can exchange foreign currency and travellers checks, however bank exchange rates are usually lower than Foreign Exchange Bureaus.
With a valid credit card or debit card, you can get cash in advances at most ATMs.The system they use are posted on the ATM. However, you can obtain Turkish Lira from the ATMs of most banks.
